ClubTread Gear - Ultralight Packs

Carrying heavy daypacks or even backpacking packs can be eliminated through innovative lightweight equipment. One trend for lightweight hikers is to migrate to frameless rucksacks. Click here to see Stephen Sharp's ClubTread review (July 31, 2006) of a frameless rucksack.

Sizing for the packs listed here is Medium and optimumly fits people with torso lengths of 20" or below, that is if the webbing belt is used, otherwise without the belt, it can easily fit to a TL > 20" (up to 22"). If not using the belt, recommend use is loads 20lbs or less.

Main packbag capacity is about 33L (2000 c.i.), the extension collar about is 13L (800 c.i.), the front pocket (if applicable) is about 6L (350 c.i.), and the side mesh pockets (if applicable) are about 6.5L (400 c.i.). The total capacity equals about 58L (3550 c.i.).

Weights of individual packs are shown below in the description of the pack. All packs have detachable hipbelt and sternum straps. 3/4" sternum strap assembly weighs 17g (.6oz) and 1 1/4" wide hipbelt assembly weighs 47g (1.65oz).

Packs shown below are of two main designs - LAB (Lightweight Adventure Backpack) and G4 (Based on GVP and Ray Jardine's designs).
