Does anyone have any updates on the state of this road, in particular the first slide Chris was able to drive over? Thinking of heading up this weekend...
Thanks, Andy

From J. Clark on Bivouac:
On Sunday July 15th there was a huge rain storm in the area and numerous new slides covered the road, trapping a number of vehicles up the valley. The motorists had to hike back out to the highway. Fortunately some generous employees of the rock quarry at the base of Downtown drove their machinery up and cleared the slides near the 4 and 5km marks. The slides were cleared enough so that the vehicles (4WD and AWD) could just barely drive out.
I went up this past Sunday (July 22) and spent the night camped up the Holly Lake Trail at 2000m or so. The road has taken a good beating. The only problems rermaining are within the 3-5 km marks, and only a high clearance can pass the one obstacle. 4WD HC recommended.
1) 50.590481,-122.152658 (est.) A mix of shale and mud covering a large portion of the road. It's been driven over enough times that any 4WD should make it over. An AWD with high clearance may make it with some agressive driving.
2) 50.590508,-122.156006 (est.) Shortly later, the creek is undercutting the road as mentioned below. It's still wide enough that even large pickups can skirt around, however it looks quite unstable and may not last very long at all. The drop down to the creek is about 8 feet |

| Many thanks, Simon. Might leave it this weekend - not sure if our CR-V will make it through that. |

1. This will be an uphill section on the way in.
2. Once this goes the road will be unpassable. (unless a new section of road is cut out of the hillside) |

Yikes, not good - especially if it's where I'm thinking it is.
