I agree, Aces! I often imagine if this knife could talk what it would tell. History is in everything around us. I see an old ghost town and imagine a thriving mining town with saloons, money flowing, school children, and now I am the only inhabitant. Or the ghost town where Mark Twain, who failed at mining and lived in a shanty and took in 17 stray cats and took to writing and reporting the local news and how I can stand there and it is shrouded by a cloak where history has turned the page. All those people are dead. Their 10 stamp mill is in ruination and used by the fly boys and girls of Nellis Air Base as target practice as they take a final turn for home off the firing range. hmmm I need to look for shrapnel. or BF-S? hehe Or you guys hike like Mick Range does into old encampments and places and discover pieces of past lives and livelihoods that have been reclaimed by the forest. I've seen pictures where fences have grown into trees on CT. wow. Nothing rots down here. I saw a 72 Ford Pinto the other day that still looked good...for a Pinto hehe
Hi, Karvitk! I am so glad I found this while hiking. Great little piece of history to have, for sure. Who knows what we'll find out there. I have a weird recurring dream where I am hiking across the desert and come upon a little ant mound and the stones they scattered all around the mound were tiny wee nuggets of gold! Pure gold! Cool dream. Then I woke up hehe |
