Might have been a warning shot.

"Pay up, or next time the hut goes up in smoke - maybe with a few CT'ers in it to reinforce the point."

OK. I'm an idiot. I arrived at Sentinel Bay in poor visibility & fading daylight a couple of weeks ago. I saw what must have been an old pad & anchors, thinking that it was where I had spent a night a few years ago. I didn't see the existing huts, and assumed the worst. Sorry to all about the false report, and any confusion/consternation it may have caused - just glad to know the huts are still there.

Probably just the old foundation, about 20m closer to the lake from the current location :)

This pic taken from that spot looking back on the two huts (one foundation post visible):

I actually flew by the Sentinel Glacier on April 21, shortly before this report first came out.

I took a few pictures- and thought that the huts looked intact at that time, but couldn't say for sure, so didn't mention anything. If you look carefully at the full resolution picture I took, there was a party just coming through Sentinel Pass from the Neve- and I thought maybe THEY were responsible for doing something that caused the cabin to go up in smoke (if you look REALLY carefully, they kind of look like mountain vandal types disguised as ski tourers) :-)

Anyway, here is the picture (if you want a high resolution version, let me know).
