Clubtread guideline #3
quote: Take personal conflicts and complaints offline. If you have a concern about the nature or tone of the content of a post, or if you are offended or irritated by something included in a post, or if you simply have a personal problem with another member, make an attempt to resolve the matter by sending a polite, respectful, private, off-line message to the offending party, OR, contact the moderator and describe your concerns. Handle it off-line, not on-line.

The Lodge would be a better place to be, or perhaps a new forum -special alerts could be set up there.

Oops. Sorry. I could not find the forum rule that says I am not allowed to disagree with other posters. Help me out here. Which topics am I allowed to disagree with? And to whom do I submit my postings for pre-approval? I guess some of the opinions expressed here actually do "matter" to some people, given the nature of some of the responses they received....
Seriously. A posting about a missing person is different. I may actually be able to do something with that (i.e. if I obtain some information that relates to him I can act on it).
What are we supposed to do with the information about this guy? Hunt him down and deliver some "justice"? Be mindful of our children when we are out and about, and cautious about the relatively small number of predators who are out there? - Thanks, I couldn't have figured that out on my own.
For those of you who are not local, this news item was already all over the place. Just like the shooting of ranger on Rainier and the murder in Armstrong. This guy has been convicted and has served his sentence (was the sentence adequate? different topic). And no, these offenders are not released "unmonitored" (is the monitoring sufficient? again, different topic).
Guess what - if you step out from behind your keyboard today and interact with a few dozen members of your fellow citizens, odds are that you will cross paths with at least one person who has been convicted of at least one offence. Panicked now?
Knock yourself out, post away. But if you do it here, don't be surprised if some people disagree and satirize your posting.
Now Cambium - where is your thread to warn us about the impending conflict in the Persian Gulf?
edit: for typos. |

| I can appreciate the thought but this probably just belongs in the lodge. The lodge was intended to be the dumping place for misfit posts or other things that may have an interest to the community. Will move it. |

1/ your are absolutely right, I just read the other day in an article about our warped pending prison building scheme that nearly 10 percent of canadian have some kind of record. Albiet, mostly D.U.I., disturbing the peace, Marijuanna, petty stuff at a young age.
Sexual-crimes and those that plot or fantasize strategies are a significantly higher portion of society than we think. As I stated to Aces, there were three very real alerts/lessons/near encounters in my young life [n.b. one guy next door was a Hockey coach], and another case not far from home, and yesterday I just learned what became of a workcolleague that disappeared from work with a severe case of mental trauma-disability. Someone, a sexual perpetrator from her past appeared in our worksite 3 years ago on a regular basis and she had a serious breakdown. She no longer hikes nor leaves her house or relates to others. Victimized. They are out there, and on internet even more so in various guises. Not a trivial event in any one's lives.
2/Not surprised nor any thing else. I'm staying low key on my thoughts and related my head's ups and why it is not frivolous.

"Respect for the law and its processes"? That's a laugh...it's more like the rumblings of a public that grows weary of our revolving door "justice" system...designed to make lawyers rich. How many times does that Kaza fellow need to be convicted before they lock him up permanently? Bacon brothers complaining about their "rights" being violated? Clifford Olson receiving a pension? Colour TVs? Steak dinners? Front-of-the-line medical care? Where's the respect for the LAW-ABIDING citizens? As far as pedophiles like this stain on humanity, there's a special place in hell for them and PC aside, many of us would just as soon expedite their journey.
That aside, I don't care if Cambium wants to post this sort of crap here. Anyone with any experience on this site should know which posts to read and which to ignore.
