I am aware, and I believe there is truth to what he said even if he no longer believes it. Changing ones opinion does not automatically make one correct. For an example, people join Scientology everyday.
I think it might be a bias that you have that leads you to believe Canadian media is mainly conservative owned with an agenda. I see plently of left wing media outlets and journalists in Canada. In fact, I recall Bill Good stating on CKNW that he will no longer interview guests who are critical of AGW because he feels that it is morally wrong to do so. I will also accept that it might be my bias that gives me the impression that many journalists are left of center. These things are relative after all.

You'll come around. Like Bjorn Lomborg, the father of that train of thought. I should point out that when I was taking ecology and environmental studies in university 'A Skeptical Environmentalist' was required reading. The last time we both weighed in on this issue I got a bit frustrated and behaved like a bit of a boor, I am sorry for that. As far as skeptics go you do at least attempt make rational and reasoned points, unlike the wingnuts that are being quoted in this particular thread.
Firstly, thanks. I feel the same way, there are lots of winguts on your side too. You've been perfectly civil. I will also agree that quoting Lord Monckton pretty much proves you're an idiot. Just like quoting his counterpart, Al Gore. :)
Will I come around? Maybe. I'm a skeptic but not a denier. There is a difference and some people can't see or acccept that. As I stated earlier, I do take climate scientists at thier word in regard to a recent warming trend and I am not ignorant enough to believe that man has no affect on the earth's climate.
Even if I were to conclude that man is resposible for the majority of the increase in global temperature and that it were possible to halt or reverse this change I would still be VERY skeptical of how our governments and the United Nations are trying to handle the issue. In the climate summit in Mexico an agreement has been reached, as I understand it, to raise over one hundred billion dollars to fund green development in third world countries. IMO, development is the real problem. Green or not. |
