Does anyone know of a good tailor that can work with technical gear in the Fraser Valley?
I'm having trouble finding a quality hardshell pant with a shorter inseam. Everything out there seems to be 30" or more. I need to find a someone that can hem the pant and deal with the full zip plus what ever clips, buckles, scuff guard etc are at the bottom.
Any help would be much appreciated! |

Thanks Dru. I was actually looking at that site earlier today. Have you seen any of their products or hear from anyone who has used them. I wondering about the quality compared to one of the major manufacturers. |

| I know some good alpinists use that stuff. It's popular with the military too; it competes with ArcTeryx's LEAF stuff. |

I have the same issue.
Just a few outdoor gear manufacturers make short inseam pants (I mean that you can find those pants here in North America): Marmot, Marker Apparel, Mammut and The North Face.
I found that Marmot makes very good hardshell pants in short inseam. I don't have any connections at The North Face. Maybe I can help you for the next season when new line comes out for Marmot? Also for Marker.
It's hard for Mammut even tough I know some people there I couldn't get any so far. Size for Mammut is 25.
What is your waist size? I am 34 US, 52 EU, or 25 Mammut.
This Fall we could chat about pants again if you are interested.

Not on the mainland, but if anybody is looking for a good gear repair person on Vancouver Island, There's Jason in Cumberland. His shop is called "Sew What I Sew" and is on the main drag, next to the Credit Union. His web site is www.sewwhatisew.com and his e-mail address is <sewwhatisew@gmail.com>.
He repaired my rain bibs for me, replacing the worn out bum and putting in new full length, separating, side zips. It cost about $50 and his workmanship is top notch.
It took about three weeks to get the job delivered, after dropping them off, but in his defence, he was just starting up and had a couple of large jobs ahead of me and was also moving his shop. He figures his turn around time on a regular repair is now about a week. I figure even two weeks is good, until you establish yourself as a preferred customer.

The Arc'teryx Alpha bibs and the Beta AR pants come in short inseams as well. I scored my Beta's at the Factory Store for 200 earlier this year. |

I'm 33" waist with a 28" inseam. I also have really thick legs. Somehow a life of skiing, mountain biking, hiking and running has given me really muscular thick legs. Weird how that happens! I've always had issues finding a pant that fits right. Even suits for work are a pain to get right.
I've looked at the Beta AR pants and tried on the regular length ones. The fit everywhere except for the length is excellent. They'be been sold out of the shorter length for months now and I can't find them anywhere else. I have found a few pants from other companies that are the right length but either don't accommodate the size of the rest of my leg or aren't full zip. I'm looking at these for glacial travel so full zip is something that I'll need so I can get them on and off over my crampons.
I think I'm going to give www.beyondclothing.com a try. I like the idea of gear that's tailored to me and they are using GoreTex so that's a plus.
Thanks for all the feed back!
