Got a rare night off from Isaac's bedtime routine, so it felt like Christmas. Had to take advantage of the long days. Met my younger brother at Cypress Bowl for a quick jaunt up Strachan via Christmas Gully Tuesday Night.

No wind, a few bugs, snow is still pretty soft on south-western aspects unless in the trees. Trail to Bowen Island lookout is mostly snow free with a few patches here and there. Snow is continuous after that.

Firm in the Gully and top but no crampons needed (maybe in the morning) Ice axes used for canes and doing some self arrest practice after reading about the injured hiker on Crown.

Going up.

Looking back.

Having fun.

Nice views, low clouds.

Oh, there's my apartment.

Busting out the party glasses.

Boots-skiing was great for the first half, too soft for the bottom half.

Not a bad way to spend a couple hours.

Well...you could have been playing Angry Birds Space. I've got to get my brother out for a hike one of these days.

Nice one.

Like your sunset shots over Bowen Island.

Nice break from the routine indeed! I don't think I'll be getting my brother's ass up more than a couple flights of stairs without carrying him

Now your bro's got another pick-up line for the ladies at the bar. Love the low cloud looking out over the straight btw.
