Was itching for a hike yesterday so headed up to Evans Peak... peak covered in cloud which was expected but wanted to check it out anyways. The trail is well marked and now a sign at the junction off the Viewpoint trail... also as mentioned in other trip reports the Viewpoint Trail sign was not there so don't miss it about 5 min up the West Canyon Trail on the left. No shoeshoes needed yesterday, snow near the peak still but hard pack and easy to tackle with boots.
This one's definitely a workout, lots of elevation gain in just over 4km to the peak. I'll be back in better conditions for sure. Did get a view of Alouette Lake from part way up which was decent.

| Wow! What a big lake! I like the picture of you in the hollow tree. All ya needed was an olde timey telephone with a cord to look like a wilderness phone booth. Too funny. Superman and his booth. Great pics. I haven't seen fog since January, down here. Not going to happen til next winter, maybe. |

Thanks for the report. I'm interested in doing some hiking in the area. How long of a return hike was it?

It took me about 3.5 hours, 2 hours up and 1.5 back... a few stops for photos.
If you're just discovering the area, I'd recommend staying on the West Canyon Trail and heading to Alder Flats. You'll get there in under 2 hours with day pack... if you hike 10-15 minutes past Alder you'll get to an opening (Rockpoker Ridge) where you can get a great view of Edge Peak (part of the Golden Ears massif). Definitely worth the trip... if looking for an overnighter you can tackle the peak, gorgeous up there.
Both options:
