Did a walk through on Sunday morning 13th May. I was looking for the Great Blue Heron, but so many other things caught my interest. The eyes have it. The first is the supermoon after it had risen, the second was taken during the day a few days later.
Here are a few of the sights at Reifel. All eyes are fascinating to me, whether they are open and alert or closed for sleeping.

This Nikon superzoom is amazing for the price, which has already come down $50. The focus is crazy. When you think you are in focus you are not, and many pics have been deleted. When you think it should focus on something, it does not, but when it does focus.... well you can see the results. I am working on the manual focus, but have not figured it out yet. Most of these have been taken with aperture priority. Set the largest aperture that the camera will allow, and then let it figure out the shutter speed. |

Beautiful photos; and amazing pictures of the moon. What kind of zoom did you use to capture those shots of earth's nearest neighbour.

| It is the same camera I had with me on Zoa. The new Nikon P510 42 times super zoom. The pic of the goslings has been cropped, but the others are straight out of the camera. |

Oooooh, I've never seen the sandhill cranes nesting!!! ( I do believe it is a constructed island, they do a lot to accomodate the birds in there, making safe places for them to nest, given it is a sanctuary... so many bird houses in the trees too). I'll have to check them out, fantastic! Gorgeous photos, good time to see all the cuteness lol.

| From what I can gather, this is the male sandhill crane and he is incubating the eggs. The island appears to be stationary and not floating free. Three other cranes greeted me on arrival, but they just walked majestically along. I am sure there are people at the sanctuary who can offer more information than I can. |
