My two girls and I loaded the heavy canoe onto the 4x4 and departed for one of the canoe circuit portages near hwy19-a and off the side of brewster mainline to Unnamed lake.Really, that is what it is called according to the old sign which is barely visible, we've been tempted to try out this shallow small lake, really a pond with the lousiest trail, and needed the canoe-dolly to cart the canoe past the end of the road a ways.
Fishing wasn't the objective, but the rods were with us and so was the girl's luck, a sixteen and a 13 incher cutthroats which was the legal limit, later fried with olive oil & spices on a simple bed of rice.
We also came across a young bear, very young, and the camera was with us so the girls went up and managed a few pics.
Cute little fellow, or girl.
Sunshine, wind, clouds, and sun again.Only met two people, one on a atv and one hiking a loop. Couldn't have asked for a better saturday.Another black & tan newt discovered while searching for bait under rocks. A fly-over by a green hummingbird.

[going to try the uploader now, cross my fingers...]

uploading the single images not working, plus i wonder from the similarity to the Profile Pic Format if some size-cutting is required. Too bad, such good photos.

Don't do it. At the end of civilization, when the new colony reflects on what went wrong, one word will keep coming up... FACEBOOK.

I know, very sorry, this newt is different than the one seen in another TR, and the bear oh so close and innocent.
Trouble is the CT multi-uploader doesnt work at this moment, and the single uploader seems to rely upon photo-downsizing first-off, and the picture program that came with my recent computer upgrade does not seem to lend itself to readily shrinking the pics, a shame, still trying to figure out how it can be so difficult from the previous version. That's why I have no-profile picture either.

I've seen quite a few black bears in Strathcona Park lately. They are down from the mountain where the snow is...some are afraid and run away while some don't.

You said your girls got up close to get photos of the cute bear cub? And it didn't occur to you to wonder where mom was?

"Gee, Marge, let's smear honey on the kids faces so the cute bear can lick it off!" (famous 1950's Yellowstone touron movie)

Editted here, and cut...just realized later in the day that I had answered to something with another TR of mine in mind, not this one.

In this case Not an Issue

and to peter1955, I owe you no explanations and such.

Typical thing I do every other day back home in BC. In fact I thought this report was taken from the end of my road for a second there.

You know I've always recommended people carry BFKs since joining CT. But in your case I am going to highly recommend you don't carry a BFK. Not only will you never need one, but even if you did it would likely slow you down running to the car.

In general it was an okay report.
