I saw this on Daily Planet the other day and I thought I would share the link. It looks like it works and has been used over in Europe for a while now. There have been over 30 documented cases in Europe where the ABS Backpack has saved lives. What do you think, yay or nay? Scroll down a bit to link to video.

FoA,
Looks like a keeper. I think you're onto something there.

Looks good! I wonder if they are available in Canada yet. The last I heard (early last year) that the company that wanted to import them was having problems with Customs. Apparently Customs was labelling the CO2 cartridge as an explosive and wouldn't issue an import license.

false sense of security in wet snow...still get killed by being pushed into things or off cliffs.

I could see how it would give someone a false sense of security, but they would have to be worn with all the same safety procautions would normally take. All though I could see some people look at the conditions and say well I don't think we should really chance it but we do have these air bags so lets go for it; and as Dru said get thrown off a cliff or smashed into something. It will be interesting to see the stats once it becomes a well used product, assuming that it will.
