A group of us are going on this ride from Halfmoon Bay to Langdale.

"Our first day’s ride will begin from Halfmoon Bay, only 45 minutes north of the Langdale ferry terminal; utilizing a combination of existing trail systems, deactivated forestry roads and single track trail, our route will take us (40 km) to Porpoise Bay. There will be festivities and overnight stay at Porpoise Bay Park (camping facilities only). Sunday, the ride will continue south out of Porpoise Bay 60 km (40km with shuttle options) over Mt. Elphinstone, to Langdale and a finish-line celebration."

It should be fun!!!

I went on that ride 2 years ago. It was quite well organized and lots of friendly people from all over the place.
Sadly, though, I had to bail out 3/4 of the way through the second day.

So much of the trail was wa=a=a=a=a=y=y=y beyond my skill level. I wasn't alone though in pushing my bike through some of the seriously technical stuff. Quite a few people had difficulties.
If you have no fear about falling and you can ride among the boulders in the creek beds, then you will have an awesome time.

I have heard that 85% of the trail is technical. I am friendly with single track technical having spent 6 years living in Nanaimo. I spent a lot of time riding, The Abyss, Mt. Tzouhalem, Mt. Benson West Ridge Trails("the mountain is laced with trails that rise from 600 feet to 3200 feet"), and Dumont("90 kilometres of single track, logging roads.").

I have been very friendly with many different roots, trees and rocks. Hoepfully, the Sunshine Coast will treat me right.

It is going to be a lot of fun!!!
