Wow, 106 degrees last weekend and we decided to camp out and raft around Lake Meade Grand Wash Bay. It's located in the backcountry of Lake meade, Arizona. East of Las Vegas. When you fly out of Las Vegas next time look down and check out the insane backcountry. We arrived there and had the entire place to ourselves. fifty miles off the highway. It was a hoot rowing around the little cove and swimming well into the night. The water was like bath water.
No, moon, millions of stars, coyotes, wild burros, and no people.
Who else would have been out there in the desert in July?
In the desert, you can drink an entire camel back full of water and never have to go to the bathroom. I don't think the water ever hits your bladder. It must evaporate out your pores; like a lizard.
Any way, not the most beautiful countryside, but stark ! hope you enjoy the pictures. Jerry

Hi RM

Thanks for the great photos. I think the Vegas area is one of the great undiscovered (partially now I guess)hiking areas in the lower 48. Did you get into the Muddy Range at all or were you staying close to the water? (certainly wouldn't blame you!)
