2 CT Virgins and 4 *old hands*... took to wilds of the Columbia Valley today to show support for our trusty Chilliwack Scout Group, and help with their Forest Cleanup... at the dreaded Camp Linley...
Thanks a whole bunch to The Shades, Terra, Nomad and Burnaby Bob (Terra and The Bob were the CT Virgins)... and thanks a whole bunch to Chris, Ron, Gord and The Lads from the Camp... they got us to work, and fed us a great lunch...
CT Management... I vote for White Squirrel awards for the whole clean up crew... hip, hip...
It was a Fantastic day... sunny and bright... we met at the Vedder Bridge, and drove out the the camp...
After the intros, we grabbed gloves and tools, and headed out the the Forest... watch you you step ladies... tons of this stuff around !!!

The guys headed this way...
...
The girls headed that way...
... ...
Shade helped like the trooper that she is...
...
We tried to get Terra to slow down... but, no...she kept on luggin'
...
And when the truck went to be unloaded,we got a moment to rest...
The Nomad...
...
...and the Ladies...
...
(BB went off to visit a tree and missed this part of the photo op...)
So we worked for a couple of hours then the smell of Hot dogs filled the Forest... it was lunch time... Ahhhhh... time to relax...
...
After lunch it was time to explore... so we headed up the side of Watt Creek, on the very steep North Face of Mount Isar... didn't get too far... there was a large slide across the trail, and we felt that it was a little risky falling off the edge...
So we said goodbye to the Camp Guys, and invited ouselves back for the next Clean up in September...
With a little bit of energy remaining, we headed up the old logging trail that I discovered a few weeks back... to the top of Mount Isar...
We made it to the halfway point before thoughts of Beer and Wine on the patio, beccame part of the conversation... Hey, we can always come back to conquer Mount Isar, next weekend, right ???
So a quick trip to the Wine Store (Thank BB for purchasing the Kokanee elixar)... and hurried home to enjoy the view... we grabbed the chips (no dip)... and caught the cooling breeze...
Terra, looked around...
...
Then promptly fell asleep... she said it was the BEER !!!...
...
The Shades checked out the Robin's nest above the Hot Tub (2 brand new fresh babies therein)...
...
...while BB and Nomad chilled out in the shadows...
...
All in all (I gotta stop saying that)... a great day, with GREAT people... Thanks again for all your help, guys...
Hugs for the girls and manly slaps on the back to everyone...
I know that Terra took a few shots, I'm sure she'll post them later...
C'Jack...

You guys ROCK!! Thanks for helping out especially nice coming from those who won't directly benefit. Definitely showing that it's the community that raises a child not just the parents.

thankyou C'Jack for bribing us to come out I really had a lot of fun, and so did my daughter - Im so proud of her for just pitching in and having some fun! I guess ice cream treats are called for tomorrow lunch was a real treat, dunno, is it the forest, or that fact that someone else cooked it?sure was tasty I had to ask myself this morning when I heard that strange noise (aka alarm clock on a sunday!), am I crazy? volunteering for something of that I didnt know waht I was getting into? But.. I wouldnt hesitate to volunteer for something like this again All that campsite needed was a little TLC, its a fantastic place. Id sure like to see it a 'hoppin place' (isnt that what chris called it?) again... Now, for a soak in epsom salts, Im a bit sore from hurling logs around, and dodging the ones cjack was throwing around!!! |

Grrrr, I was just about done posting my part of the report and explorer crapped out on me. I'm going to give it another go, but in increments, so bare with me.

Earlier in the week I agreed to help out with the camp cleanup. I eagerly signed on to participate in my first CT outing - not knowing what lay ahead for me. Behind the scenes emails started to worry me. They contained phrases such as: "Im about to get my certification to say I'm normal, honest.... anytime now, its coming, in the mail, they said so...."; "I hear that someone is a VIRGIN !!!"; "He he he you worried bout a lil nakedness in the hot tub??" Yep, it was clear, this was going to be one interesting day!!
Surprisingly enough, C'Jack, Shadee, Shade, Burnaby Bob and Nomad all turned out to be normal. They were a great crew to work with. After working we had lunch, did some exploring around the camp and headed out for a hike. Though we didn't make it to the top we still had a nice view of Cultas Lk. After that it was off to the C'Jacks to enjoy the serenity of his marvelous place tucked away in the hill side; thanks Rick.
Here are my photo contributions from the day: What you doing in that bush Shadee?
Here an idea of just how much wood we were packing around.
 Lunch time
Next we did some exploring and playing
Then we took in some nice views of Cultas Lk. on a short hike.

Well, that basically wraps up my perspective of the day.
I would like to give a BIG thanks to Rick for organizing it so us CT'ers could pitch in with the Camp Linley clean up. I thoroughly enjoyed the upper body work out packing those logs around. I have to say the most rewarding part was seeing the difference our participation made around the camp. With things cleaned up and cleared out I hope the Scouts enjoy it when they return in September. *High 5 to Shade* for being such a trooper today!

Thanks Blackfly, Marc & Calixtomoon
I also need to thank Shadee for picking me up and dropping me off; it was/is very appreciated. Especially cuz you had to try the exit twice
Nomad I'm also very grateful to you for letting me tag along in your orange speedster. That was one heck of a joy ride around that one corner...haha

Big thanks to C'Jack and the Camp Linley Scouts crew for a great Sunday and big thanks to Shadee for convincing me to come out and lend a helping hand!
We had wonderful weather for a camp clean up and a quick hike to burn off a bit more energy and those great hotdogs! Not knowing what to be expecting when we got there, it was a great campsite on plenty of land covered in bush and trees. All we had to do was sort thru the bush and pull out the dead trees. Camp Chris was well armed with a whole assortment of power and logging tools to help make the real big stuff more manageable.
Everyone did a great job! Little Shade gets big kuddos for hauling out big sticks too. Shade and Terra found some interesting wildlife; they stubbled across a salamander. There were cabins to be explored and swings to be swung. Hours of exploring only turned up more things to be found.
The trails from the camp lead straight into (and sometimes up) the mountain behind. Just looking up the slopes of trees our legs begged for more action. We tried the old "pipeline" route but to no avail. Things got too steep and too slippery to continue. A trail for another time and another adventure.
When following the old logging road (they can get trucks up and down that?!) we soaked in more sun and views over the valley and Cultus lake while listening to apathetic cows moaning in the distance. Shade led up the trail a bit for us and her and Terra discovered horses in the valley bottom. Kids are full of energy but soon enough we were all tuckered out and beer on the patio sounded like the best plan.
It was a little tricky getting my orange speedster to keep up with Shadee and C'Jack (they were in a hurry) but it held up good, considering I weigh almost as much as they do, combined.
C'Jack's got a great pad with a great view over the Fraser/Chilliwack valley. Thank you again for the hospitality!
Thanks again for the invite! I look forward to doing it again! And a big hurrah for Terra, Shadee'n'Shade, BB, and C'Jack!
