Michael M'gonigle and Wendy Wickwire
Foreword by Dr.David Suzuki
Talon Books,Vancouver,B.C.1988

My father got me this book for Christmas back when it first came out, knowing how I loved the Stein Valley.Ironically,I've not been back since then, though I've been many times before. If you can find this book,it's a wonderful read with stellar photography. It details history, past and present(up to 1988),as well as detailing natural and geological features. If you're a real"Steiner",(and who isn't?)you'll love this book.I'm including a photo of the cover, and some photos of the photos inside(excuse the quality). There's even one of the late John Denver performing at the "Save the Stein"festival!I remember all the time I spent there it was uncertain as to whether the valley would be saved, and I got involved with conservation at that time too. It's so excellent that the area is protected now -(too bad the Elaho Valley did not fare as well)

I'd love to hear from anyone else who has this book(Longshadow?)seeing as how I enjoy it so much

I had the book for while, a friend is actually in the book (he is leading a mule into the Stein area). It is an awesome book! Really great pictures.

It has always made me want to do the Stein but the last few years have seen me with increasing health problems and so I have be unable to get to the Stein. However, I have turned the corner and I am planning on doing it in the near future (2 years)? So if people are thinking of doing it next spring or summer, I think that I would be interested in doing it.

If you find this book, pick it up!

i got this book for christmas when it first came out too, i must have been about 8 years old or so. looking at all the pictures as a kid, the colour of the water, persuaded me to finally visit more than once and i'm always dying to go back. hopefully lizzie lake road will be repaired someday! the history of the first nations and the first europeans is really cool too! when i actually saw in person some of the petroglyphs in the book, i was totally floored!

I have it. One of my parents also gave it to me for Christmas when it first came out. Thanks for reminding me because I haven't looked at it in a while.
