As I laid my paddle across my lap and eased slowly back into the cushion of my drybag, a single breath escaped my lungs and held as suspended as my thoughts. There was no tomorrow and there was no yesterday, only the eternity of this moment that was being engrained into my memory by the vision of this sunset that did grace my eyes. How can a moment in time explain the perspective of an entire lifetime, I now know… and will never forget.

If I could impart the gift that was mine alone last night in the marsh, I would only add the sounds of the birds, the scent of lush green grass and the ripples of a rushing tide on the salty waters, alas… this is all I can offer.

A point of call and a beacon for dinner in the darkness.

Have you ever wondered where ducks sleep? I found these girls amazingly well camouflaged in the darkness of a moonless night, huddled together I tried not to wake them.

.
.
Had to add this one from an hour later on that evening, some of you prolly know where this is by the birdhouse. Two years ago you would see many nights like this but it's been a scary kind O dry of late and that has affected both the fall colours and the fantastic evenings. Seems the trade off is no bugs for no view.

Always a pleasure to be transported to another place by someone's words and photos. Thanx for the getaway!

Thanks Monster! One can only hope that everyone in the world has a scene that seems to sum up or give meaning to their existence.

Awesome sunset pictures monster. After paddling in the area with you in Febuary I can now begin to imagine how magic some of those moments actually are.

Probably a whole lot greener now too huh.

Was that the log you had to hold back with your paddle so we could get through??

It sure looks different with all that water!

So this would be the night I saw you out there MOnster?? And we decided to go in (for some reason?!?). Too bad. It would have been nice to see the moon that night too.
Great photos and lyrical description!!

Dont feel too bad Q, only a few of the pics are from the night we ran into you but yes... you should have stayed out longer because it was a beautiful evening! We'll hook up sometime this summer when theres a high tide in the evening to do this paddle again if you'd like, no rental required ;)

Sounds good Monster!! I hear that was about the highest the tide has been in there. Can you produce a full moon too? The one in the sky that is!!!
