Beautiful pix and looks like it was a great day!
I love the luciousness/richness and fragrance of those mossy, humid old forest places!
Thanks for all the pictures, they're luring!!!

Hell NO!!! What a great day exploring we had, and it was great to finally hike with you, c'wack. I'm itching to make it back out there and see what we can see

The day started out with a ominous looking clouds drifting over the mountains - adding a bit of mystery to the scenery.

We headed out down the trail...

... stopping frequently for photos.

"Move along, people! There's nothing to see here!"

C Wall, decyphering the faded and cryptic writing on the trail marker.

Ops for the occasional macro shot

Mick, in his element

C wall and Trillium, more photo ops. Look up, look WAY up!

And through the forest we make our way. Look at the size of those stumps - and every one with a story to tell.

"If pigs could fly"

Lunchtime, at the halfway point of our exploration.

Making our way back...

... c wall found what we believe to be the "missing link"

Say cheese...

No, YOU say cheese!

Thanks for putting this together, c'jack! It was great to get out with you all

Very, very cool folks. I thoroughly enjoyed this report and the pictures. So many neat pics and places. Love the 4 mugshots to begin with, and the pic of the pig flying out of the tree - just bizarre how these things grow/evolve. The 'witch's hand' is interesting too. Neat to explore areas like this and find the artifacts of times past, isn't it?

I'll keep an eye open for future CT trips to this area.

Great report guys.It can't be said often enough. When you do a trip report it opens our eyes to new places and new adventures. It provides us with a fresh outlook on places we may have been but over-looked side trail or feared going out on a less than perfect day.For those new to hiking it shows what can be possible with a bit of effort. This proves you don't have to scale rugged peaks, risk life and limb to have an adventure.
Thank you guys.

Found out today that we were approximately 150-200m in elevation below where the falls are.The route actually swings away from the creek, then heads up to the top of Suicide Bluffs. Some of the sections use fixed ropes to help you ascend.Getting in for a closer view of the falls is trickier still,as you need to climb a bit as well.
CJack, showed those maps to Ralf Kelman today, and he enjoyed the detail. What's more,he was able to show me where a lot of cool stuff is.I'll need about 20 years to check it all out, though

BumpI'm soon planning a trip up to finish this route off,and I'm wondering if anyone has done this trail up to Seymour.Any info would be helpful.I understand there are some roped sections,do I need to bring rope, technical challenges, etc. The plan will be to run in to the TH,then power trek up to Seymour, where I'll shuttle down.

Can't help you out there, Mick, but thanks for bumping this trip report! It was a very good day and fun reading through this again and looking at the photos. You know, the mountains are very impressive, but so too are our own lush, rich forests!!

wow, that was such a great trip. Feels like so long ago, too.

I wonder how tall the ferns have grown. You'll be among friendly spirits Mick, when you climb that mysterious trail to Dog Mountain.

I hope you take lots of pictures Mick - and I'll look forward to your report. Maybe you'll find more treasures? That bottle of wine and the caramels were likely just a start, imagine what more lies further up the trail!

cheers - C Wall

I now have a good idea of the route's direction, which is goodIt was a great trip, and had a certain aura to it,didn't it?When I do go I'll take plenty of photos.Seawall,I'll have to show you an article from the Vancouver Courier Jan gave me awhile ago. It's all about Seymour Valley logging camps, and I'm sure it's the one we found that's featured, though I'm not definite.Nevertheless, the whole area deserves to be explored more...

one time when i was a teenager we slogged all the way up to the dam in running shoes on new years day, with like 2 feet of snow...wet feet... and i saw that the falls were all frozen up nice and blue

since i became an ice climber i have been motivated to go visit the falls several times but they are so low elevation that they rarely freeze. they are still unclimbed!
