Four of us were at the 1300 Metre tent site this past weekend. Two climbers came into camp
at about 7pm on their way down from the summit. Told us that someone had taken one of their
backpacks which they had intentionally left on the Standard Route when heading for the
summit. Things could have turned bad for them as they were short a headlamp, had inadequate
clothing for a night out and were still 3 or 4 hours from the lake.
Imagine Mom's terror when the RCMP returned the pack without any word from the pack's owner.

So, the point is, if we as climbers, find a pack that obviously has not seen any weather
maybe we should leave it. The owner might need it. In this case he did need it to get safely
home. I'm not interested in pointing fingers at the people who took it. Their intentions
were good (taking it to the police). But not a wise move. |

| I'm confused. You guys, or someone else, found a pack on a standard climbing route, and carried it out to the police station instead of leaving it? That's bizarre. |

Yes. Someone,we don't know who, took a pack that was left by another party,(not my group)
and hauled it off the mountain to the police station. |

| Yeah, although I think the party had good intentions, that was a pretty stupid move. |
