| I am hoping to do a trip to Mt. Rainier. Would be very thankful for suggestions on some best "bang for your buck" hikes. I particularily like "easier" backpacks, where there is potential to do some dayhikes from a basecamp. Also interested in some dayhikes. I have up to a week, early Sept. Thanks! |

| Summerland is spectacular any time, even without wildflowers. Panhandle Gap as a day hike or over to Indian Bar and return. Huckleberries will likely be ripe. |

Overnight hikes in the park depend greatly on the availability of permits.
IMHO Bang for your buck dayhikes/overnight hikes:
1. Burroughs Mountain 2. Skyline Loop (Paradise) 3. Spray Park 4. Summerland 5. Indian Henry's Hunting Ground
If the mountain is out you can't really go wrong in the park - fabulous scenery.
If you want to see some photos/learn a little more about these hikes and others the Mt Rainier page of my website is here: http://members.shaw.ca/karenanddavid/Rainier.html |
