Saturday was a bit of a lazy day. Sleeping in, late breakfast... hardly your usual start to a hiking day. In the end though, we wanted to get away from the horrendous smog in Vancouver. The forecast was for insane heat everywhere, so we weren't sure what to do. Figured we'd go car camping or maybe like in 1 or 2km somewhere and relax.
On the way, decided to stop off on an old road and check it's status. I had a feeling it could be used to reach a location a few people had been hinting at to me, but I figured it was a 0% chance of success. After a few false starts, we made it to the end of the road and started bushwacking. Almost turned around when we discovered a fairly good route, and 18km round trip later we were most definitely successful. Not bad for a "car camping" weekend! I love knocking adventurous hikes off of my todo list

| Beautiful wildflower meadow, inviting lake (did you go for a swim?) and obvious remoteness (great shot of the moose!). 18 km is just about the right distance for a nice hike. Where exactly is this? If you don't want to disclose your find, can you give an approximate location? |
