Kevin,

You have found your way back on to Club Tread. I am not against you posting, as long as you can keep your mouth under control. That said, you have already started your insult spraying.

While you have some good information to post, much of what you post is simply insulting,

I’m asking you, if you can keep your insults to a minimum and your language on a standard that is in line with this forum? Would you be willing to meet that standard? If so, I am willing to accept your input. If not, I would like to see you banned for life.

Instead of starting a whole thread of drama, why not just add him to your ignore list? You never have to read another thing he writes, and you don't have to expend so much energy worrying about him. The ignore feature exists especially for situations like this where you don't want to read posts by a particular person. You have the power to completely censor him from your own eyes without needing to raise up the pitchforks.

...or are you just in it for the drama?

I started this thread so Kevin could justify himself and maybe become a part of Club Tread again. Note that I haven't bought into any of his bullshit lately.

If he wants to post, keep it clean, or go away. Is that drama?

You posted this to give him the opportunity to rejoin the community? It's not your community dude. This thread is the type of garbage not needed, I hope to see it locked and deleted soon.

If you don't like a poster - whomever they are - put them on ignore. Otherwise, keep things to yourself.

So how do we deal with posts that are foul mouthed? If it isn't my community or yours, why are we even posting?

There's a moderator. Get offensive posts moderated off.

No need to bait the guy into a pissing match to get him banned, that I figure is this thread's purpose.

Kevin may have been slightly out of hand before...but I found his return to clubtread a little more restrained and generally more appeasing and I definitely appreciated having his opinion and knowledge back on the board.

Really it was only when he was provoked by others that the unnecessary comments began. If EVERYONE could keep the personal insults aside, I'm sure we can all continue to enjoy his valuable opinionated contributions.

Did I miss something, or is prother referring to kman leaving and t2c joining?

Good point. Maybe you should leave and only come back once you've grown up a bit and can handle reading big boy words.

I like Kevin, but I get a bit tired of defending him (in the 'real' world, not online) when he keeps repeating behaviour that has the same negative effects on different people.

I like Peter and Sandy too, and I don’t see a problem with having a conversation about an itinerant member of a community, in a way that gives them a chance to respond. (It’d be a different story if someone was banned and then a thread was started to complain about that person, which I’ve also seen).

And here I go, posting in an obvious troll thread. Oh, well.

I'm not sure when Peter (prother, not some other Peters kicking around here) figured he sets the standards by which the forum lives by. Did this happen when I was away? Oh, sorry, he's always been under that impression.

This has turned into a highly personal conflict that prother has decided should be fought in the public forum. It seems that introductory inflammatory posts (as opposed to reactionary) are often written by someone other than Kevin. There are two types of the inflammatory posts: People looking for advice on something unsafe/stupid/ridiculous that they're doing/done/about-to-do, and ones like this thread that are nothing more than instigating conflict.

Are we going to moderate ourselves into oblivion? Anyone been to rockclimbing.com lately? Yeah, me neither. But, Supertopo is thriving thanks to pretty loose moderation and great information from experienced and talented posters. (including the likes of Barry Blanchard and Conrad Anker and John Long, and so on...) rockclimbing.com got moderated out of existence for all intents and purposes. AND SuperTopo has a TERRIBLE user interface. Gawd, it's horrible, and yet is insanely popular.

If we spend all our time tattling on each other "he said a swear word" like five year olds, we're not going to produce any good content. We're on our way there...

Right about now I really wish that Jim hadn't banned the AlpineZone username I had on here. Punter would really enjoy how their seasoned moderators "keep the bar high"...

hahaha! "Greg" slays me.

TGR is an example of next to no moderation producing AMAZING content. Sure, the forum has some pretty outrageous garbage floating around, but it's easy to side-step it if you wish.

As a b-c ski resource, TGR is so far ahead of anything else, it's ridiculous. Lou Dawson, Andrew McLean and others have terrific blogs, but for a vast wealth of shared knowledge, TGR rules.

You might encounter a swear word, though. Be warned...

Well, I'm heading to Australia in less than a month, so, at this stage, I got nothing to lose.

In my opinion, Kevin has never contributed any unique content to any thread on this bulletin board through his five different incarnations from his first alias as Kman, right through to the two sock puppets he is using now, Skibum101 and mntntime. If you think otherwise, you are sadly deluded, irrational or yourself get some kind of weird kick out of watching other people insulted.

Every time someone gets pissed off with his chronic negativity and huge ego issues and raises the specter of banning him, or otherwise holding him accountable to the same standards of behavior that everyone else on this board abides by, a bunch of pansy arsed sycophants come out of the woodwork to spray about how awesome he is. Frankly, his trips were pedestrian, his comments nothing short of mundane, and the only thing he is/was really good at is causing dissent. For f**ks sake, he hasn't even appeared on this thread and the usual bunch of "wannabe mountain men" dickheads are bickering among themselves. Here is an accurate portrayal of Kevin and his henchmen: http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/bigdogmetoo.htm See if you recognize yourself.

Why someone who has been banned three times from a forum comes crawling back the way Kevin does is beyond me, but I suffer no delusions that the three or four toxic people on this thread behave in any rational manner. I just use the ignore button - though, IMHO, a "delete this person from existence" would be more useful.

Now, I know exactly who will now jump into the fray, but I don't give a rats arse, I've already put you on "ignore" so have at it.

To those users offended by profanity and Darren, the ever tolerant moderator, my apologies, sometimes ya just gotta use it.

Anyone else have a batch of home brew go bad on them in this heat? It's never happened to me before but I tell ya, I'm really bumbed out cause the kits I buy are $35 a piece

All was well when I took my last gravity reading and it should have been ready for bottling today but as I usually do, I tasted right after siphoning from the carboy back into my primary and YUK..! It went sour!

I'm wondering now, is this cause, for once, I didn't actually do a good enough job sterilizing or is because of the heat?

What a waste :(

At the risk of having some sycophantic bullies pile on in a shit-kicking, I say "Well said, Sandy!"
What gets me most about T2C is how rude and abrasive he can be, yet somehow he has a very thin skin when it comes to criticism of him.
I'm sorry, you can't have it both ways, that is called hypocrisy and reflects very badly on the character of the person. Typical of schoolyard bullies, but most people grow out of it.

I think you replied to the wrong thread here, unless there is some very obscure sarcasm that escapes me.
But re beer, an infection is most likely if it is sour. Brewing in the heat is not recommended, when yeast works too hot unpleasant fruity esters are produced, but not sourness. Infections are more likely in the heat, ale yeast can still work well and reproduce quickly at 65-70F, at higher temperatures the nasty bacteria speeds up and can overtake the yeast.
Find a way to cool it down, or wait until the heat breaks in September.

Peter

And did you *really* expect that to work, or did you just want a thread of drama. If you don't like someone (anyone!), add them to your ignore list. That's why we have it.
If you really can't solve your own problems, and think a banning from the forum is necessary, or if you want to point out that someone is not obeying the rules of the forum (in a particular way you don't like), you can email your case to the guy in charge of the forum.
But starting a thread complaining "I don't like so-and-so and want him to be banned" sure looks like a great need for drama.
I make no commentary on the poster in question or any other. My case is about your methodology, not who you have an issue with. This forum is set up so you can easily censor what you see. Solve your own problems.
