Hi. Is the "road" in to the Gott Creek trail still driveable to the trailhead? I've heard rumours that one or more of the bridges were getting to be in pretty bad shape. A rough road we can handle, but a bridge that's out or close to it is another issue altogether.

I was hoping that someone might have a bit of up to date information.

Thanks!

I ended up emailing the Lillooet Visitors' Centre as they promote that "Canyon to Alpine" hiking guide, the edition of which I own includes this hike. They replied that that particular hike has been removed from the most recent edition, and that the latest information they had on the road in was from Fall of 2011 and reports then suggested that things were getting iffy. So, now I'd really love to get some more up to date info if at all possible. Anybody been up there this year?

Thanks.

Type "Gott" into the search function.

First trip report that comes up is from August 9.

That's not the Gott Creek FSR though.

The Gott Creek FSR was closed last year at around the 7.5km mark. The bridges are indeed falling apart.

We were up there last year just before the closure doing Elusive.

I believe this is the last report before the road closure:

Thank you! Perhaps not the answer I was hoping for, but it's definitely the information that I needed.

Thanks again.

nortonchum report the bridge is still there. Big ditches in front of it but they got a jeep through okay this July. Note, this is the for access to Elusive Peak area. I'm not sure what the other spur is like.

Saw a grizzly bear up there in June 2011.

Has anyone else made any sightings along the Gott Creek road?

I completely missed that report good to see the road is still passable at least. Those bridges look like they only have a few more seasons in them though.
