So the plan was to head up to Helen Lake and then go up Cirque Peak. There were loads of people. The trail wasn't too terribly steep, was in the trees for the first bit with roots along the trail and then it opened up. There were lots of wildflowers and when we got to Helen Lake we continued on up to a ridge overlooking the lake. We then spotted the trail to Cirque peak and headed that way. When we first started going up this very steep slope we went the wrong way along some cliff edges, but quickly corrected and found the route (had missed the cairn the first go around). I didn't make it to the summit of Cirque because it was way too steep for me, with very loose stones. Shawn did though. He was met at the top by a marmot who nibbled his shoes. The views from up there were fantastic. On our way down we noticed some people swimming in the Helen lake (brrrrr)

Hiked 18.2 km over 7.5 hours.

Nice job you guys! It's as though the place is frozen in time as my pics from ten years ago look almost identical to today's... wasn't it hot enough for a quick splash in Helen Lake yourselves? I wimped out myself :(

Thanks for all the great photos. I've heard good things about this trail, and it's definitely on my "to hike" list now.

A very nice set of photos, and a solid day! Good work. I like the shot of the crowfoot glacier, you can really see how much it has receded.

Gorgeous photos. We hiked to the lake and the ridge above in 2009 but didn't make it up to the peak. Saw a grizzly on the way in, very exciting!

One of the photos looks exposed. I don't remember anything that difficult on Cirque Peak (my first scramble). Anyway, really nice photos.

This is cool because I was going to go up there when I was there a couple of weeks ago,but after seeing all the cars in the lot and on the road,I decided it was too crouded for me. I'll go up in Sept. one year :) It looks beautiful, and I seem to follow in your footsteps a year behind a lot already,so this is perfect lol
Also,I'm SO glad to see someone else take pictures of rocks :) :) :)
Thanks for sharing!
