This trip report is a repost. For some reason the posting was deleted after I put it up yesterday.
A beautiful overnighter to Mt Marriott last weekend. Just a few notes.
- I found the Scrambles guide a little confusing but followed my nose. The large lake mentioned as a possisble camp site is actually 2 or 3 smaller lakes north of the ACC hut than suggested. It took 3 hours to reach the lake I believe the guide was referring to.
- The headwall at the end of the mini valley is, in my opinion, better breached on the right hand side than the left one suggested. The route is more direct and on this day the slabs on the other route were snow covered and insecure. I went up the recommended route but chose to descend on the other side.
- Insects were not much of an issue, surprising given the heat and the abundant surface water.
- Speaking of which, I drank freely of untreated surface water once on the benchlands above Marriott Lake. I believe the upper reaches of the valley are relatively lightly abused and have so far suffered no ill effects. Possibly the visit to McPuke's in Pemberton did my system more damage.

| Drinking untreated surface water is a risk for sure. Sometimes, though, it's just so hot and I'm so lazy... i'll probably pay for it one day. |

Great TR thanks for posting it. I did it two years ago, I went up on the left down on the right. Mostly just to see more of the place. Coming down the right side was quite fun, it was early Oct no snow had fallen yet. Keep talking about a winter trip but Marriott's neighbours always get to me first. Cayoosh and Rohr sure look inviting in your pictures. Lusting for snow on a hot august morning, maybe take my ski's to the beach. |

Beautiful area, really like the photos.
The agony of loosing the gamble with untreated water is something that will linger in memory for time. Had a bad result with McSUB once, never eat there again.
