A week and a bit ago I attempted to solo Yak, but ran into some unforeseen weather problems. I had to down climb from half way up because the ominous clouds were rolling in closer to me. The trip wasn't a complete failure as I summited using the hiking trail. Below the cornice on the saddle I ran into another club tread user and it turned out to be a nice afternoon. We made coffee and enjoyed the damp summit together. (Thanks for the company Scott!)

I documented my little excursion. You can check it out here:

Wow, I can't believe you did that solo. Good on you and awesome video! Too bad about the weather.

You may have had more time to reach the summit if you hadn't lined up all those establishing shots

Seriously though, great video. Lucky you got off that slab before it became slick.

Hey! I recognize that coffee pot! I have been looking forward to your post, I was starting to wonder if the Lightning got you ;}

That is a real nice video, I love how it starts off with the coffee pot. I'm not sure what you put in your coffee, but after drinking it, I felt great! Musta been what I was lacking.

You have real talent making videos, I watched a bunch and I am impressed, you really capture the feeling of the mountains. The work and time you put into making them really shows.

It was real nice meeting you, give me a shout if you ever need a hiking partner.

I'm not in a position to watch the video but I am curious as to which route you were attempting?

Normally I find helmet cams boring and end up skipping them after 1 minute, but watching this on the 52 inch tv was pretty cool and held my short attention span the whole time.

Nice one.

Awesome helmet cam movie.

Maybe I should one of those, and do what Kelly does...

Thanks Scott! Naw, the lightning missed me, but the sheets of rain on the way down sure didn't. My "hiking shoes" were superb on the wet rock and roots :D I was hoping you had made it down before it hit hard. Was a pleasure meeting you in the mountains and I will look forward to doing it again sometime!
P.s. Bring a mug next time

I'm glad a few people enjoy my introverted excursions! I would like to complete the climb before summers end so a part two might happen between now and then..

Wow wow awesome video, awesome vibe. You have real talent for this. Just don't take stupid risks for the sake of a video to entertain us. Stay alive so you can make decades of movies.

Watched your Needle Peak video too. I'd agree, you have a very cool film making style going on there. Well done!
