It's been awhile since I've taken the time to write a trip report and now I'm going to share 5! I will not be adding a ton of information for the simple fact that I do not want to lose this report. Any questions, feel free and ask.

GOAT RIDGE: On Sun. Kelsey and I went to check out Goat Ridge Trail. He had been there with one of Kelly's evening hikes but I had never made it. I must say this is a wicked hike. Very steep, a few ropes and awesome views of both Chwk Lake and Lindeman Lake. Took us approx. 2 hrs to arrive at the second viewpoint.

OLD FLORA TRAIL: On Mon. Kelsey and I drove down Chwk Lake Rd. We drove past the Chwk Lake Campground onto the FSR and shortly after parked and found the TH on the left. We took this trail not knowing much about it. Another steep trail which seemed to be well flagged. Hiked for 2 hrs when we arrived at an old avalanche shoot which is where we turned around.

MT. LINCOLN: On Tues. Kelsey and I went to Mt. Lincoln in Yale. I've always enjoyed this hike because it's steep, has ropes, great views and is not too long. 1.5 hrs to the top with breaks.

SLESSE MEMORIAL TRAIL: On Wed. the two of us checked out the Slesse Memorial Trail. Been awhile since I'd been up there. I consider this an easy hike with very rewarding views! Biggest complaint, the flies and mossies at the plaque! So annoying!

NEEDLE PEAK AND FLATIRON: Today Nikki and I met at Sardis Starbucks at 7:30. We headed up the Coquihalla and began our hike approximately 8:30. Weather was not great, cloudy and a bit chilly. Our hopes were high that it would clear. Arrived on Needle Peak about 11:30. Sat up there for 1/2 an hour then went over to Flatiron and it was finally starting to clear. Went up the Flatiron Ridge and back down to Tasty Lake where I dared myself to take a dip and did. Colder than the Vancouver Polar Bear Swim! Got back to the car about 7.5 hrs after we had left it. Only saw 2 other hikers. One fellow coming down who said he spent 2 nights on the peak and one lady going up to spend the night.

Back to reality tomorrow. (work).

Hm. I saw your name in the Mt Lincoln geocache/summit log on Wednesday. That's a nice lil jaunt.

WOW! Good job! The ropes do look fun! is the SLESSE MEMORIAL TRAIL kid friendly for the most part? How long of a hike is that one?

Good Job. What a great way to spend your time off! Did you only go to the plaque on the Slesse hike or did you go further?

Good to see Kelsey is over the injury and back in action. Lots of consecutive trips, strong finish.

Looks like a fantastic week off. I'm a bit jelous. :) Alexa is getting way to heavy to haul up anything the likes of Flora and her tolerance for riding in the carrier tops out at around 2.5 - hours which incidentally is about the same amount of time it would take to have her hike half a kilometre.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone!

Dragonflymist: I think the Slesse Memorial Trail is kid friendly. The creek crossing is easy enough, the trail isn't that steep, just a slow and steady upward climb, a bit rocky underground so kids should be good on their feet. I do remember reading on here that Elkaholic took his girls up there and I think they were under 10? (and they're still hiking!).

Mel: we only went to the plaque due to the other days of hiking and because there was still a lot of snow and ice breaking off and down into the cairn area, also into the bowl.

Jenn: I was thinking of you and told both Kelsey and Nikki, I don't know how you've done so many of these hikes carrying a baby and/or overnight gear! You amaze me!!

I somewhat disagree, I think that most kids would find the Slesse Memorial Trail a slog/grunt and has no good base for a good portion of the trail (rocks from washouts). Lots of kids could do it, lots of kids would whine and complain, depends on the kid. Be sure to bring water. It sure isn't an easy going trail like cheam.
