Question in regards to Statlu Lake.
Wife and I (with dog) are planning on doing an overnighter up to Statlu lake this long weekend, and wondering if the road to the trailhead is manageable with say a VW Jetta?
And is the road up there the correct one that is in the 103 hikes book? or is the one on the trails wiki correct? (don't have the book in front of me)
Cheers.... and if it is.... will post a TR :) |

| The trails wiki one. There is a giant landslide that destroyed the 103 hikes approach road... |

I guess thats a chance at any location? That it will be busy...... |

Thanks for letting me know, so going today is a no go, but early tomorrow might be the plan....
And of course now that we have semi decided to do this, we are lookign in the '103' hikes book and we are being indecisive and looking to choose other destinations. BAH!!!! just need to pick one and go.
I will take any other suggestions on a good 1-2 overnight hike destination though :)
2 people (plus dog), only have a car to get to location (and willing to drive) |

You could always go to Upper Statlu. A bit more of a trek, but lots more space. Rohr is awesome but you have a HUUUGE wall of fallen rock to ascend. I took my dog and an overnight pack, there were sections I had to carry him a bit.

I think we've made a decision of Rohr Lake.(but its still early lol) We are fairly new to this, have been doing lots of day hikes etc... but I have never had a chance to do an overnight trip (other then car camping), and my wife has done a few overnight hikes when she was younger.
We did just get the dog a RuffGear pack so we should be able to pick him up and lift him if required over any of the boulder area. Plus he'll be able to carry his own stuff... Tired of doing that...lol
So unless things change (which they might) Rohr Lake it is, hopefully everyone is at Joffree Lake and not at Rohr :) |
