Hi, first post here, please be gentle okay? I'm looking for a hiking partner for the next few weeks starting 31/07 in the Jasper, BC area.
I'm currently in Golden, heading towards Jasper and surrounds, and would like to complete any day or multi-day hikes in the national park... only one problem... I'm afraid of grizzlies.
Am 27y male, pretty fit; am used to solo-hiking in less-grizzly populated areas! Also, I do not have a car. |

Welcome to Clubtread! Not everyone here give people the gears.
Yes, there are grizzlies in Jasper and area so it is a good idea to find people to hike with. Check in at the local outdoors store and see if they can help you connect with some people to hike with. I have heard that The Friends of Jasper has organized a hiking club. They or the ranger station may be able to help you out connecting with them. Also, make sure you pick up some bear spray and get instruction on how to use it. Remember, it is used as a last resort. When hiking in grizzly country remember to make noise so they hear you coming and don't surprise them. And keep you food properly stored when you're camping. Have fun and enjoy our beautiful Rockies!
Cheers! |

Are you going to be staying in Jasper townsite?
Perhaps sign up at meetup.com and check if any hiking groups are visiting the area? |
