Does anyone know the status of the Glacier Creek Road outside of Cooper Creek north of Kaslo? I am interested in going up to Monica Meadows. Thanks.

The following reports are the latest on Bivouac, if it helps:

2012.07.07 - Reported to be washing away:
Numerous reports of the road falling into Glacier Creek and impassable beyond 10 to 15 km from start.

2011.08.10 - good to the trailhead:
Drove to the Jumbo pass trailhead without any problems. There is some grader work going on from 15km to 25km (at least when we drove through). Because of this the road was rough in this section (go figure). Talked to some folks who were at monica meadows and they said the road was good to the trailhead there as well.

You could check with Kootenay Lake MoF, but, word around the Koots is that the road is closed. Opening date unknown.

I spoke to someone on the phone at the forestry office in Nelson yesterday and the road is closed. As is the road to Meadow Mountain. I had planning on heading to Monica Meadows this long weekend.

MAcbeth icefield, Monica Meadows and Jumbo pass?

Jumbo is a go from the Jumbo creek side. The road is in excellent shape to the trailhead.

Actually Monica, Jumbo and Meadow Mtn (MacBeth was a disappointment). I was especially awed by the fabulous mountain panorama throughout the upper Glacier Creek valley (simply the most scenic logging road I've ever driven). I think the west side route to Jumbo Pass was more scenic than the east side.

P.S. access to Jumbo from the east will be closed Aug 20 for about a week for bridge replacement project.
