On Saturday, we went up the Boulder Creek FSR (off the Duffey) with bikes to the turn-off with the west fork. We then continued down the west fork on foot for a while. We were originally planning on trying to get up to Boulder Mountain as a day trip but we had to scale back the plans due to someone feeling rather ill. On the plus side, that meant we got out in time for a cool dip in Cayoosh Creek during the late afternoon heat.
For the day: 22-23 km total distance 800 m elevation gain (simple max - min method)
There are a lot of boulders in the first section of the road. I think that some dirt bikes might be able to get through but I'm skeptical that any ATV could make it (at least not without a lot of effort.) We brought our bicycles.
After the boulder problems, there is a rather large avalanche covering the road just before kilometer 4. There is still a lot of snow and it's covered with full size timber that was ripped out at the roots. It took about 10-20 minutes to haul bicycles through it.
There area few more small issues (logs, small avalanches, partial washouts) but otherwise the road is in excellent shape. All the bridges are still in. Vegetation is slowly taking it back but for the most part it's being taken over by grass and flowers instead of alder.
We stopped riding/pushing our bikes at the turn-off to the west fork. This road is also in pretty good shape but the bridge has been removed and the vegetation is a little taller. We decided to ditch our bikes and use a log to cross the creek without getting wet.

We hiked along the fork for a while until we reached a meadow area.

Steventy,
Next time check out the Boulder spur off of the Gott creek FSR. It starts on the left at 4-way fork at just over 4km from the Duffy. Stay high (right at both forks on this spur) and you'll soon arrive at a clearcut on a ridge crest around 1775m. You might have to walk the last little bit as it's getting overgrown. Hike up the ridge (sparsely vegetated to open) to a sub-peak of Boulder at slightly over 2300m. From here, it's moderate scrambling (one slightly exposed section) along another ridge that will take you to a much more mellow, 3-km long walk to Boulder mountain. This route is far nicer than the slog from Boulder creek, and you get to drive much higher if you have a truck. When I did it, I didn't use 4wd but it was getting bush above 1700.
Boulder creek provides awesome access. it's a shame that it's now blocked, apparently for good.
