Four of us enjoyed a fun filled Saturday of climbing Yak Check on Yak Peak. The sky in the morning was overcast and the face was showing some wet streaks, probably remnants from the rain on Friday. Nonetheless, we decided to get up on the face and check it out.

We got lucky, the sun poked through the clouds, and on closer inspection we found that most of the route was dry. The start of the left facing crack on P6 was soaked and the cave/flake is wet too, otherwise all quite dry.

As expected, there's still plenty of snow on the backside/north side of the peak. However, it is soft enough to be able to kick steps with hiking boots and descend safely to the trail lower down.

When we were about half way up the face we noticed another party of three having some route finding issues, and moving at a slow rate. They were still rappelling as we got back to the HW at 2000.

Thanks to those that provided beta on the conditions last week!

Here are some of the better pics.

Thanks for the update.
Did you happen to notice if SOMWOW was dry? (Far west end of the face)

SOMWOW looked wet to me. Here's a pic from last Wednesday ... it looked about the same on Saturday.

SOMWOW stays wet for months. Speedway dries faster and has much better rock, if you want to climb over there.
