First time up here.
Steep trail but very, very, very well flagged. Thank You to NSR.
Pics show conditions for anyone wishing to head up there or further on.
Shoes got a little wet in the bog before the lakes. On the way back through I managed to keep them dry by taking a different route.
As soon as you hit the lakes the snow starts.

Curious, not familiar with Vicar Lakes. Where are they located, and what is the elevation of the lake, to see snow at that level.

Vicar Lakes (large ponds really) are on the pass between Elsay ridge and Mount Bishop. Perhaps 1000 meters or a bit more? Cutthroat's route was up from just below Seymour Dam, can also be accessed from Elsay Lake, or the long way along the start of the Indian Arm route/Mount Elsay trail from Seymour. Still lots of snow. Even Elsay Lake had large patches last weekend, and not just where the slides accumulate. Trail was originally a route used to access Mount Bishop, NSR flagged it well as an escape route from Elsay Lake, as there is little or no avy risk or flooded stream crossing risk. The normal Elsay trail has both. |
