Wondering if anyone has some good suggestions on where to head for a 3-5 day backpacking fishing trip in Alberta/BC. I am looking to head out in late July or early August. Something up to 25 km/day and some nice mountain views preferably.

If in the parks I will pick up a parks fishing license. I was considering the Brazeau lake loop, anyone know what the fishing is like in Brazeau Lake (not the reservoir).

The High Rock range, down sough in the highwood area. Great views, few people, and a whole pile of popular fishing lakes. Check the GemTrek Highwood map.

I've always loved flyfishing in the Kootenays but I'm kind of biased

Brazeau Lake is supposed to have smaller rainbows in it, and another possible for you would be Fortress Lake and it is a trophy Brookie lake.

Fortress Lake is supposed to be a good lake for brookies and has plenty of stunning views along the trail and at the lake. There is a fly-in lodge on the lake but I'm not sure what fishing from shore is like (supposedly further West along the lake is better). The lake is in B.C. but access is from Sunwapta Falls in Jasper. A 25km hike with little elevation will get you to the East end of the lake where the main campsites are located, and a trail also goes along the North shore of the lake to some less developed sites. Expect high water when fording the Chaba, especially later in the afternoon on a nice and warm day.

confirmed.

I did fish brazeau a few years back. Very turbid water and caught a smaller rainbow (2#) in a couple hours fishing.
Also fished the outlet with no luck.

skoki area?
