What sort of information are you looking for? I've been to all three in the last two years. Actually, to be honest I haven't been to Spectrum Lake yet, but I hiked past the turning on the way up to Big Peters Lake. Spectrum is well below the tree line and is a long drive down a lot of Gravel road. That said, if you like the woods, that area has quite nice woods.
Pinnacle Lake can be accessed by car, but there is a steep, loose section that you might not be happy taking a car up. Also, last time I was there, there was flagging in the trees with words like 'cross ditch' printed on it, suggesting that some de-activation was due to take place. Nevertheless, it is still viable if you drive as far as you can and walk the rest of the way along the road. The lake is a pleasant destination, but the best rewards are had by hikers prepared to find a route up the steep slopes to the ridge.
Twin Lakes is probably the best destination, but again going beyond the lakes and up the peaks will give you the best day out. You might not make it all the way in a car - there are water bars on the last section of road.
Also, consider Monashee Lake, which is just to the north of Pinnacle Lake and gives more scope for easier exploration of the alpine.
I suspect Pinnacle Lake and Twin Lakes will still have a good bit of snow, right now. |

| Oh I was just wondering what the snow situation is. I know that twin lakes and pinnacle probably still have snow on them but I thought spectrum lake might be lower. (but I have never hiked there) Also wondering if I could carry snowshoes and start hike and continue with snowshoes. (I don't know what the avalanche risk might be up there) Thanks for any help |

Spectrum should be fine now, I would think.
We hiked to Monashee Lake on 26 June two years ago, and made it to the lake. However, the alpine was still under quite a bit of snow and the lake was frozen. Below the tree line, things were more snow free. I'm no avalanche expert, but looking at my pictures from that trip, there doesn't seem to be a big snow pack sitting on the valley sides. As I recall, the snow was pretty stable. I'd be comfortable giving it a go now. You could certainly pack your snow shoes in, but if you weren't looking to venture too deeply into the alpine, they might not even be all that necessary.
Of course, I haven't seen the area this season yet. |
