3 clients, 2 friends, and some old guy, up at it again for a 12 hour hike up hills of snow. The annual June Mt Baker trip had the expected; snow storm, rain, sun, 80km winds, lightning, thunder and sun burnt faces, with the occasional whiteout to keep navigational memory on track...
Kelly put his foot through a hole, decided to rope up then, just under 8000ft...
Fresh 10 inches of snow with no previous people ahead of us meant that we had to put this years trail in-thus being the party of 7...
what else...mmm...
Was at 6800ft heading to high camp 2, when the flashes of lightning and rain and snow and wind blasted down upon us...decided to go down lower to get out of wind...plus 'someone' dropped the 2nd tent fly down the side of the hill, 1000ft below us, never to be found...so if anyone finds a MNT HRDW Trango 3.1 Fly, let me know...It will be sitting at about 4500-5000ft on climbers left of the hogback in the valley, or stuck in a moat around 6400ft above the low camp, so if your glissading down on your descent, and you wip yourself into that moat, throw the tent fly out on the ridge before you die. Thanks.

First time in 12 years that I have actually climbed Baker without bumping in to anyone else while going up or coming down, not till we hit the low camp did we see 3 new parties that were not there previously the night before, setting up...Just wasn't the same, not really a party without random people from around the world spread out all over Mt Baker. But it still was a party with 6 guys in the Trango, steaming it up for a night of cuddling...After about 30mns of that I put my headphones in and watched 3 movies on my iPhone before it finally died at 3am...
Woke up at 8am and we all slowly got out of bed and started our walk up. Once at the top, I became really hungry for scrambled eggs...Tristan decided to throw his stuff sack off the summit, Kelly chucked his sunglasses off as well, I guess to pay respects to Pele'...isnt that Hawaii? oh well, it was clear, then in 30 mms it became completely white...typical..down we go in zero vis.

no...I would rather wear flip flops than wear snow shoes... throwing stuff off summit is a lesson learned by all of them that day...wind will take your gear if you don't hold onto it.

This was a spectacular adventure! Who was the old guy with the tie anyway?? Did you give him a ride back to Canada after?
Here are some pictures and a video from my perspective.
