Tired of spending hard earned cash on jet boil canisters. Or having 5 cans with only 1/8 or 1/4 of fuel left ?

Well I was....
H Mart and a number of the other grocery stores sell 4 packs of butane 230g for 4.00 area.

Do it yourself adapter off the internet

And your in business

4.80 basically 5.00 for 100G of fuel +tx
http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/HikingCamping/StovesFuel/PRD~5017-676/jetboil-jetpower-100-isobutanepropane-fuel-canister.jsp

Downsides is this is straight butane not 4 season mix with propane. Which has down side of sucking if used in winter. Personally 4 season mix still sucks in winter. Upside being butane has more BTUs then propane.

Again after all refills canisters should be bubble checked to verify all seems and valves are holding. As well verify that you have only filled your canister with the correct fuel weight.

Obvious warnings:
-If your a darwin runner up don't attempt this
-substitue propane (not a good idea)
-smoking while refilling, its your life (http://youtu.be/9NXQoQD_Jb4)
-attempting to fill canisters with out a scale (bad idea)

I love the ones with only 1/4 or 1/8th of the fuel left - perfect for an overnighter or weekend trip and saves 80 grams!

Not for me I guess, but it is dirt cheap. Thanks.

230g of fuel in typically $6 or so in the larger cans. The JetBoil cans are very expensive, and I rarely buy them. So, you do save a couple of bucks.

As for the partial cans, yup, I put them to use. A scale gives you an accurate measurement of the remaining fuel.

I use partial cans for my cartridge lantern while car and hut camping.

Fantastic. Gives me a reason to hang on to those spent canisters.

There are forums like Clubtread, devoted entirely to the art of maintaining and refilling stoves. See for example:

BTW, I believe the scale is to avoid self-immolation. Apparently refilling beyond 80% is not recommended.
