I hope to go in the spring or summer and wonder if any CTers can suggest any worthwhile alpine hikes or something not touristy.

Thanks

Not too much right in in San Fran-best to head out of town to Point Reyes for nice beachwalking, muir woods for visiting with the sequoia trees and across the bay to Mt. Diablo for dry hikes with good vistas.

walnut creek area is beautiful - go to Rancho for a urban wilderness experience - eg wilderness within distance of a commuter train ride

sausalito, across the bridge, is sweet too

have fun, it's one of the world's most beautiful and most livable cities
