Due to the constant insistence that “The White Squirrel” is in fact a hamster in disguise, Moses has prompted me to set him straight once and for all. He has been a foe and a thorn in my side since the inception of these coveted awards. Sir ( Frank ) ; I hope that you are now happy and you can see the error of your ways. I’m sure that you will now agree with me that hamsters and squirrels have no resemblance to one another and are in fact two separate and distinct creatures.I have for this one time, given you the * large size* version so that you can truly see what you are looking at. I might point out here that, one gathers nuts while the other one IS nuts. Spinning around in a wheel or running loose in one of those clear plastic balls , on your carpet is surely the sign of a sick animal. Squirrels run free the way God intended them to be , unless they decide to play “ Beat the Car “ while crossing the road .

Please sir take your award , accept it graciously , and may you one day find those little pellets in your morning cereal.

Evelyn ( office Mgr.) , from the Awards Department at Vancouver Hiking

Russ, I'm (sniff) so honoured to receive an award such as this. I would like to thank all those who supported me in my goals. I'd like to thank my manager,Billy Goat. If it wasn't for you pushing me all these years I wouldn't be who I am today. Claire bear, you made me laugh when I was down. Thank you. Thanks to Hodgeman for the freshly baked cookies. Those kept me going on those "all-nighters". Ronbo, Hiking Nut, C-Wall...you guys are awesome. I'd also like to thank my parents, all my friends, Willy Wonka (good candy-funny little oompaa loompa's) and a big SHOUT OUT to hamster lovers everywhere.

It must be noted that squirrels run willy-nilly through the forest hiding their nuts all over the place, and then forgetting where they've put them. (Resulting in many new trees.) While you may look down on the lowly hamster, there are some valuable lessons to be learned from this little creature. They collect and store food in the area of their nest. (Great planning, good home-makers, wonderful family values. Unlike the hell-bent squirrel.) As for the "wheel". They care about their bodies and personal fitness is important to them. (Motivated, focused, tenacious.) These are traits we should all hold close to our breast.
The squirrel has no fitness routine, just runs around with no direction. Hence the term "She's squirrelly!"
