We're planning on heading up to Statlu (maybe upper statlu) this weekend and I was wondering if anyone knows what the conditions are like there now?
This is from last october.

Hey devmar

My wife and I tried the statlu 2 years ago on the May long weekend but didn't make it to the lake. We made it to the end of the road before the wash outs. We thought we found the correct rail but we hit a spot where we had to cross a simple log with no support (and a raging river below) or rails and we turned back. Ended up camping in the a spot that had been clear-cutted. I looked into it again this year and I think they have put a railing across the log we came to. DId you make it to statlu? How was the trail? We also saw threads that mentioned car burning a regular on the long weekend, so we decided we didn't want to leave our vehicle.

Cheers

this area is usually quiet on this board, its OK camping, nice terrain and tougher climbimg for most, acess and vandalism is a deterrent for sure.

We didn't go because the weather looked suspect and I didn't want to drive 2 hrs to spend the day hiking in the rain. We tackled Ford instead which was good because my hiking partners ended up having incredibly low energy that day. I think this weekend is a bust as well, maybe next week. I think Slesse might be a good alternative.

I was at the lake last week. The road is in good condition. No snow on the trail until you come to the waterfall just before the lake. Snow patches afterwards. The trail is wet and getting grown in too, comparing to past years.
