| While cleaning out my folks' garage I found a half dozen old bear spray canisters, the most recent having an expiry date of 2005. How does one dispose of these properly? |

| You should not dispose them properly and use them on the neighbors annoying cat or dog. |

get a group of people that want to try it to go practice with them?
Same goes with expired fire extinguishers (might have to pound the bottom if they've settled). |

I sort of agree with this one because practice makes perfect with respect to targeting. Kidding aside, I would go out and practice spraying them on select targets so that you get an idea of the spray pattern and distance of effect. Take proper precautions of course to limit accidental exposure. |

I agree with this too. It is not the capsicum that expires, it is the propellant. When I'm out on my bike, I carry a can of expired bear spray and once had to used it on an aggressive dog that chased me. It worked fine. So go out and practice and watch which way the wind is blowing. |

Blast them off somewhere far away from any trails.
You'll learn new respect for how well the stuff works when you get just a tiny whiff of it. |

| If the propellant is well and truly expired practicing doesn't do much good as the hotsauce comes out of the can with a dribble rather than a spurt |

| Keep it in the side compartment of your vehicle door, or keep it in your bedroom nightstand to ward of unwanted intruders. |

| I'll practice with it somewhere out in the woods, then take the empty canister to a fire station. |
