I was wondering about snow softness in Seymour area. Do you still need snowshoes? I was there a couple of weeks ago and the trail was perfectly fine without them, but I didn't go all the way up. Or maybe it's better to have crampons or microspikes now?

Depends where you're going... I'd assume that the heavy traffic trails such as Dog and Brockton are so compact from use that even if the surrounding snow is isothermal you'd be fine without snowshoes...

The summit. And I am aware of the unpleasant section after 2nd bump, so really wonder about best footware.

Snowshoes probably best until 2nd peak, and then a quick change to crampons.

If you go early in the day, snowshoes won't really be necessary. In the afternoon, the snow is kind of a bitch.
