What a perfect day to get outside Saturday! I can't believe we've had so many clear weekends in a row this month! We'll see how long that lasts. I see ubishops beat me to getting a Garibaldi post on the forum. He's aparently as fast on the computer as on the trails :P
The original plan was to leave north van at 6:30, but my bus got me to Waterfront about 30 seconds after the sea bus departed, pushing our schedule back 30 minutes. Not a problem; just more time to read at the station :).
We left the trailhead at about 8:30, and after about 1 km we were peeling off our outer layers, never to be worn again for the remainder of the day. At about the 3km mark we put on snowshoes, as the packed snow was getting a bit slick with just our boots. Snowshoes are only necessary for traction; crampons would be much better suited for most of the trail. Once the trail breaks into the open by Barrier Lake the snowshoes come in handy as the snow is much softer in the sun.
Once in the open I was glad I had sunglasses, but could have used another pair. Also, don't think to go up there without a good dose of sunscreen. I thought I would just wait till we stopped for lunch to apply some, but I still got pretty red. Don't forget to apply under your chin too! The snow is about as bright as the sky.
Looks like Barrier Lake is showing the first sign of melting; Lesser Garibaldi Lake has some large areas that are already melted. Garibaldi Lake itself is still nice and solid; we dug down to see how deep the snow was on top of the ice. Looks to be about a pole's length: 120cm. Enough talk, here's some pics:

...some panoramas:

...and some 3D pics! Take my word for it, these look much more impressive with the red/blue glasses :)

When I saw your trip report title I was worried that you may have had a different type of three dimensional experience on the lake! I prefer my movement across frozen lakes to only be in the x and y directions.
I need to get my hands on some 3D glasses.

Some very nice shots there. I too have no 3d glasses.
Really like the deep blues contrast with white in a lot of your shots.
