Nice. But you'll have to go do it all again next weekend - I think Mt Shasta is directly in the centre line of the solar eclipse this coming Sunday! Now that would be a cool view from the summit!! |

Those are some amazing pictures. I will totally need to drive down and summit that one day with a few friends.

Wow! What an accomplishment. Cool pictures, GBD! What a pristine view!! I like the one where the eyes are peeking out of the sleeping bags....brrrr.... So, did ya ski down? I have an old friend "justsomeone that I used to know" who used to climb these things and splitboard it back down. Is it possible to snowboard it back down,in sections? Or do the rangers frown..... |

| Nice pics. Which trailhead is used for Green Butte? Is that the ridge from the East? |

Rented Mule, we didnt ski back down. But there is a 3000ft butt slide back down part of Avalanche Gulch. Makes the decent back to the camp about 2hrs. Saves alot of time.
Runningclouds, you park at Bunny Flats. Green Butte is on the South side. It meets with Sargents Ridge which comes up from the South East. It then joins with the top of Avalanche Gulch at The Thumb (13500ft). Decent is via Avalanche Gulch then a traverse back on to Green Butte @ around 11000ft. We packed up camp that was on GB then decended back down into Avalanch Gulch and followed it back to the parking lot. If you dont want to go back down off GB into Avalanche Gulch you can stay on GB Ridge and follow it back to the car park. I would recomend taking Avalanche Gulch back down.
