A few weeks back I went for a trip to Sandbanks Provincial Park in Ontario. There is a walking trail throughout the park, however I chose to scale the sandbanks for mountain training . This place is very unique, incredible amount of sand dunes, situated along the coast of Lake Ontario. I took about 300 photos, these are just some of them.

It was the time of year for the butterflies, I must of seen a thousand at least.

Turtle Tracks

At the end of my nature journey I ordered a pizza

I would like to thank the canadian forces for dropping off a large pepperoni pizza

How Bizarre!! Never imagined sand dunes being there. But, it makes perfect sense, I guess.
Tortuga! I like the tracks. The picture of the tiger-looking butterfly on the bare tree with the white background is a great shot!! No wonder you took 300 pictures. Some areas look like a lot of moisture is present and there would be NO drifting of the sand. Then, ther are the pictures with the ripples. Way cool. I could spend hours there.
Thanks! I learned something new, today.

Amazing simply amazing, you got out and posted a TR! Any sand in your shoes?, keep it going and post a few more pics please.
When it comes to sand dunes, we got some over here near Cache Creek above the Thompson River.
Cactuses in the socks worse than sand in the shoes.Ouch.

Once got prickly pears sticking into my socks during a hike with running shoes in the grassy hills of the high OK; ouch... and itchy.

Glad I could lure you to the report with some sand and desert . Thanks for the compliment about the photos. Majority was ripples, and really bizarre to walk on in running shoes. I didn't bring hiking boots with me to Ontario. I spent a few hours there, had some fun and will likely go back again. I was a bit worried about the vehicle at the trailhead so didn't want to stay too too long. I always have this gut feeling when I am away from the vehicle this day and age sadly. I learned something new today too, what a Tortuga is, had to google it lol, I had no idea .

Dude, I thought I told you before, I live down the street basically from solid bush, and I go in the bush a fair bit, every other day, I usually don't post anything because it is nothing out of the ordinary. It's not just a form of recreation, but also a form of entertainment to take my mind off work. Glad you found this one entertaining though, I found the area unique so I posted it. I was going to post it a while back but the uploader was busted. I've gone on a few other mini adventures but not worth posting. I am going on a really cool one soon so I will post it just for you, but you have to promise to calm down .

I've been to the dunes at Cache Creek & Thompson River, in fact in 100 degree weather, it is unique there too.

I was at a family reunion there about 15 years ago.

Got to the park in the evening and set up the tent. When I woke up the next morning, I peeked out and realized the campsite had a whole bunch of baby pot plants growing up all over it.

Good things: Cool sand dunes leading down to the beach, and swimming in some pretty heavy surf one day.

Bad things: Seeing signs posted the next day closing the same beach because of high levels of fecal coliform.

You'd be smarter to invest your trip money and go to places in BC you haven't been to. Isn't much here really.

Ontario does have the Canadian Shield. Granite if you like climbing, and really gorgeous scenery, especially in autumn. See paintings by the Group of Seven.

Hard to get away from people, though. Most Canadians live way south of anybody in BC or the prairie provinces and it gets pretty crowded down there.

This from a guy who's never posted anything more difficult or more interesting than a walk through his local park. And it took a good year or two of posting nothing but pointless garbage before he got around to doing even that much.

You don't know what you are talking about, and so what if I post wildreness treks that don't involve summit extremes?
Better than this guy's do nothing attitude with an ally or two on-board with his rants.
A new trheshold to another level to enter TRs and start a flame, guess you didn't know the mayor has a new sheriff in this town forum.

Another report coming soon, been dealing with yard work and setting up the pool. Put your hiking boots where your mouth is.

Cambium, give it a rest. Everyone's contribution is appreciated.

Always interesting to see what other parts of the country look like. The Dune fields on Oregon coast are cool too.
