It seemed like an eighteen legged race up the Hope Lookout Trail starting at a few minutes after 7pm.

Our group of 9 was smokin' runners up the trail...well almost all 9..there was one slow person in the group.

We made it to the lookout in pretty reasonable time...considering the photography along the way and a few breathers...
Once up there many tripods started appearing in anticipation of some spectacle down in that small town.

One such spectacle was some sort of fire filling one neighbourhood with smoke...quickly followed by a firetruck that we watched in video game fashion as it navigated its way through road networks until finally reaching the scene..

Another show put on specially for the event was a sunset filled skyline and light show of the valley.

Unfortunately my pictures to prove all of this happened are on my work computer and I am not going back there till Monday...

Does anyone have any pictures to back up my story...Surely someone took even one picture.
Cheers,
Kelly

Thanks to everyone who came out for some legzercises.

Kelly, thanks for the neat small trip, and opportunity for nighttime photography...

For now, since I will taking off soon, here are the shots from my Kodak Digital.

First View of Town, and zoom in on two peaks to the north.

Smoke in the town.

Sequence of shots as night falls.

will post more photos later from the Sony/Tamron.

Nice one folks! This place has some awesome views. I would love to go to the top of Hope Mountain someday.

I can see my place!:

As for this:

My friend lives down the street from where the smoke was. He couldn't believe the smoke and then seen the fire department race to the scene past his house. Unsure if it was a house fire. At 815pm the fire department was called.

I have to ask, what is with all the heavily packed backpacks? Safety gear? lol...It's only a one hour hike to the lookout lol?

Yes cool timeline.

Had I been in Hope I would of joined yas. Doubt I would of carried a backpack though .
Good idea training for the bigger hikes!

I often wondered what could be explored by bouldering up higher up the lookout.

Hmm, I see a picture of Tim drinking beer, Simon smiling crazy thoughts, and someone in Hope smoking a big fatty, all is well then.

Hmmm 18 legs but only 8 hikers counting the camera man... Somethings fishy, must of been two camera men.

In the fall it gives a nice perspective looking west down the valley (to Herling Island I believe) from up there. Might be to many leaves by now...

Thanks for organizing this Kelly, Was great to get out again and the view was great. The company wasn't too bad either ;) I didn't snap to many pics as I was trying to keep up with the race (lol yeah that was a fail!)

Know what you mean nicki, group set up a good pace. Still managed to get some photos up along at various points along the way.

More of my photos.

A beautiful late evening drive in....

Trailhead and sign announcing the trail:

Points up along the way, first view of town.

Gang at the lookout, waiting for the night skies.

Forgot the name of this mountain, it is new to me...

Lookout... with night time falling in...

Awesome addition Karl, great night shots. I love living in Hope surrounded by mountains, one of the nicest places I've lived for views and awesome wilderness in all directions within less than 5 minutes drive. It's also nice living in Rambo's town too .

PS: I also love the fact bears wander all over town certain times of the year.

Awesome additions Devmar...

In this photo:

If you look just barely off to the right of dead center (just above the two humps) where you can see a wee bit of the Fraser River, that is the best fishing spot in the area where I go :). Suprised you can see it from there, Sockeye every cast when they are running full bore.
