http://www.nwac.us/forecast/avalanche/current/zone/5/

Probably also applicable to much of the southern Coast Mts.

Awfully late in the season for that concern, but considering the snowpack and the cool spring we've had I can easily believe it. It's usually over by now, but not this year.
Play safe!

And most importantly, don't forget your sunscreen! . The UV cycle indicates a 6.002 period shift in the wavelength resulting from solar flares, combining with a snow reflection and ice crystal melting factor of 8.6001. Factoring this in with the refraction angle of cornice reflection noted in the avalanche cycle link above... well you get the idea, you could get a serious sunburn and for the really unaware, possible retina damage :) Just in time for all the beautiful weather we're going to have this weekend and next week after 4 months of nothing but rain and cloud. Oh, wait the few nice days that we did have this winter, there were severe avalanche warnings as well - how convenient :) On a serious note, still be careful out there.

Don't believe it. Yesterday at noon it was snowing in the valley in Whistler. The daily high made it to 8C in the valley.

There's still lots of wintery snow up top.

On May 15, 2007 (might be off a year there) there was a critical cycle releasing on a very early season layer. Moguled runs on Blackcomb slid next to ground.

The snow doesn't know what time of year it is. When conditions are right, the snow will move. Around here, it's just starting to get going.

Skied up Nak Peak a few days ago and can confirm that the snow pack is very sketchy. Everything that slid was under a Class 1 and slow moving but beware!
