Oh yes my friends it arrived in my mail during lunch today. It's the 2004 Backpacker Gear Guide!

I got mine in the mail yesterday and just briefly glanced through some of it last night. Some pretty neat stuff in there! |

How do you get one and what is inside? What kind of gear, one company or lots? Sounds intresting.

| It'll be on the racks of all fine newstands, everywhere - soon. I remember seeing last year's edition at MEC and even Safeway last year at this time |

It's better than last year's. They have gone back to listing by company again...Thank God!
They have more gear categories this time too!

| Perhaps more importantly, how are the recommendations that the magazine makes? I know that a lot of camera mags (Pop Photo for one) are such slaves to the advertising dollar that everything ever made is great great great! Are the gear reviews/guides put out by Backpacker any better? Or do they whorship the advertisers too? |

As much as it pains me, I think the recommendations are fair this year!
