Just wondering if anyone could give me a rough guideline as to what elevation the snowline is up by Mica Creek at the moment?
Also (and obviously this will be dependent upon a number of factors) in an average year, where would you expect it to be by, say, early to mid-June?
Thanks in advance for any help. |

| Right now, probably about 1,000 metres, in June, about 1400 to 1600 m depending on aspect. Similar year to last year with 1/3 higher snowpack than normal and cool wet spring. These numbers are just a guess based on average Selkirk snowpack. Last year the snow was well set up in June. |

Snowpack is well above average throughout the upper Columbia and Rockies in terms of water equivalent...anywhere from 15 to 50% above average. The snow pillow for a site just across the pond from the dam (Molson Creek) is at a near record level--51% above average. P.S. last year was only average.
We're gonna need lots of sun and warmth to melt it all, and so far it ain't happening, we're having another cool late spring. It's gonna be a slow slow opening. |
