I am a 35 year old male seeking someone or a group to simply share the cost of the Float plane from Gold River to the Trail Head at Louie Lagoon. I am considering to pay for the float plane myself, but would like to share the cost with anyone or group. I am not necessarily looking for a hiking partner or partners. I am fairly fast hiker and could hike a head of a group to give them privacy. I am submitted my name and info to Nootka air as well.

If anyone is interested in doing this trip from mid June onward and looking to share the cost of the of the Float plane ,, pls contact me.

More info please.
How many days did you want to go for?
Do you know the total cost before splitting?

I could find some time...

The total cost of the float plane to Louie Lagoon is either : $580 for a Cessena , which can take up to 3 people ,,or $790 for a Beaver which can take 5 people.

http://airnootka.com/hiking/nootka-trail

all the rates and info for Nootka Air is there.

I would like to spend 4 nites and 5 days on the trail.,,, I want to fly in the afternoon,, camp at 3rd beach, camp at Calivin Falls, Beano Creek and Maquina pt. and hike out to Friendly cove on the 5th day. and catch the Uchuck Ferry back to Gold River. Which costs $40.

I would like to hike this any time. I am very flexible with my work. I was thinking mid june. The earliest the Uchuck runs for pick up in Friendly Cove is June 23 , which is a saturday. after that i believe they pick up on wed and saturdays. ck their web site.

I am very flexible with my schedule and really want to do this trail. I live in Vancouver and would be driving to Gold River.

I am considering going solo, but $600 is a lot pay for a 4 day hiking trip. plus all the other expenses.

The cessna has a very small payload. It can take three 100 kg adults plus day-packs. If you have big packs you may need the beaver even if there are only three people.

We did.

Hi Mike, not sure if you considered this option but several years ago I wanted to do a solo hike on the trail but didn't want to mess with the airplane arrangements so I did a yoyo trip by taking the ferry out from Gold River and took about 6 days to do a round trip up to 3rd beach and return. I'm a fast hiker, early riser so the schedule wasn't a problem since it was only me I had to worry about. I found it quite enjoyable to experience the trail "twice" and made time to stop and see things on the way back that interested me on the way north.

Have fun whichever way you go. It's a great hike!

alpalmer, just to note that now there is a "passage" fee through the reserve. $40 one way last year.

I seem to recall paying $45 last year, but I could be wrong. That is the price that is listed on the First Nation's website: http://www.yuquot.ca/nootkatrail.html

Here is my trip report from last year http://www.clubtread.com/sforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=41117
I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about the trail. It was probably one of the best multi-day hikes I have ever done and one I am sure to repeat.
